I tasted this yummy dish for the first time at a party. Potlucks can be a bit unpredictable, with some dishes you taste out of courtesy and others you gladly have seconds of. The meal of minced meat with sauce over mashed potatoes was a hit with both me and my husband. We both really enjoyed it, so I had to request the recipe. It wasn’t just us, but also other people. All the guests really liked it and asked for the recipe to find out the secret ingredients. Yummy, tasty, and fulfilling—everyone wanted to join in.

After we finished eating together, I went up to the cook, an older lady with a kind smile who was very skilled in the kitchen. She was really happy to share her recipe with me and felt a little pleased by all the attention. I was eager to arrive home and try it. The first time I tried it, I felt a little nervous. Will it taste as good as the one she makes? I was very happy, and it was great. The delicious sauce on top of creamy mashed potatoes quickly became a favorite in our house.

Now, I am sharing this amazing thing with you, hoping it brings as much joy to your meals as it does to ours. Let me tell you how to prepare this tasty and fulfilling dish that is perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients for making mashed potatoes:

2 pounds of potatoes, peeled and cut into four pieces. (Simplified) 2 pounds of potatoes, peeled and cut into four pieces.

1/2 cup of milk

4 tablespoons of butter

Put salt and pepper as much as you like.

For the meat and sauce: 1 pound of minced meat.

1 medium-sized onion, diced

2 pieces of garlic, cut into small pieces.

2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour

2 cups of broth made from meat.

1 tablespoon of a sauce called Worcestershire.

Put salt and pepper to taste.

You can include 1 cup of frozen peas and carrots if you want.

Directions:

Prepare the mashed potatoes.

Place the peeled and chopped potatoes in a large pot and add enough water to cover them. Add a bit of salt and heat until it boils.

Reduce the heat and let the potatoes cook slowly until they become soft, which should take about 20 minutes.

Drain the water from the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add the milk and butter, then mash until it is smooth and creamy. Sprinkle salt and pepper as much as you prefer. Cover the pot with a lid to keep the potatoes warm while you prepare the sauce.

Prepare the ground meat by cooking it and then create the sauce.

In a large frying pan, cook the ground beef on medium-high heat until it is fully cooked. Take away any additional oil.

Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the pan with the meat. Cook for about 5 minutes, until the onions are translucent.

Mix the flour with the beef and stir for 2 minutes to get rid of the raw flour flavor.

Gradually pour the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce into the pan while stirring. Make sure to scrape off any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Warm the mixture until it begins to bubble softly and let the sauce thicken, which should happen in about 5 minutes.

If you like, you can add the frozen peas and carrots to the pot towards the end of the cooking time. They add color and more nutrients.

Put salt and pepper in the sauce as much as you like.

Serve: Place the creamy mashed potatoes on plates or in bowls.
