Ingredients:

For the Beef Filling:

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or a mix of cheeses like mozzarella, provolone, or Monterey Jack)
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning (or dried oregano)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the Dough (if using homemade):

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm milk (110°F/45°C)
  • 1/4 cup olive oil (or melted butter)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

For Assembling the Rolls:

  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted (for brushing)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley or chives, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Beef Filling:

  • In a large skillet, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté for 3-4 minutes, until the onion becomes soft and translucent.
  • Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks. Cook for 5-7 minutes until the beef is browned and cooked through.
  • Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes to incorporate the flavors.
  • Remove the skillet from the heat and allow the beef mixture to cool slightly.
  • Once the beef has cooled, stir in the shredded cheese and breadcrumbs. Set aside.

2. Prepare the Dough (if making from scratch):

  • In a small bowl, combine the warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the milk and stir. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, or until it becomes frothy.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. If the dough is sticky, add a bit more flour, a tablespoon at a time.
  • Cover the dough with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

3. Assemble the Rolls:
