Ingredients:

- 1/2 cup warm milk (110°F / 45°C)
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional, for extra flavor)
- Vegetable oil, for frying
For the Glaze (optional):
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2-3 tablespoons milk (adjust to desired consistency)
Instructions:
- Activate the Yeast:
- In a small bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, until the yeast becomes frothy.
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract. Stir until combined, then knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. You can also use a stand mixer with a dough hook for this step.
