1. Prepare the Cheese and Ham:

  • Unwrap the string cheese sticks.
  • Lay a slice of ham on a flat surface.
  • Place a cheese stick at one end of the ham slice.
  • Roll the ham around the cheese stick tightly, making sure the cheese is fully enclosed in the ham.

2. Coat the Ham and Cheese Rolls:

  • In one shallow bowl, place the flour.
  • In a second shallow bowl, beat the egg.
  • In a third shallow bowl, add the breadcrumbs, and season with a pinch of salt and pepper.
  • Dip each ham-and-cheese roll in the flour first, coating it lightly, then dip it in the beaten egg, and finally coat it in breadcrumbs. Press gently to make sure the breadcrumbs stick.

3. Cooking:

  • Frying:
    • Heat about 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
    • Once the oil is hot, add the ham and cheese rolls and cook, turning occasionally, for about 3-4 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
  • Baking:
    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
    • Place the coated ham and cheese rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or sprayed with cooking spray.
    • Bake for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are golden and crispy.

4. Serve:

  • Allow the ham and cheese sticks to cool for a couple of minutes before serving. They can be served on their own or with dipping sauces like marinara, ranch, or honey mustard.

Enjoy your crispy, cheesy, savory Ham and Cheese Sticks!
