Nutella Filled Donuts Recipe
Ingredients:
For the Donut Dough:
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 1/2 cup warm milk (about 110°F/43°C)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
For the Nutella Filling:
- 1/2 cup Nutella (or as needed)
For the Coating:
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (or cinnamon sugar if desired)
Instructions:
Step 1: Make the Donut Dough
- Activate the yeast: In a small bowl, combine the warm milk and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the top, stir, and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, until the mixture becomes frothy.
- Mix the dough: In a large bowl, combine the flour, remaining sugar, and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg. Add the vanilla extract and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough: Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes, or until the dough becomes smooth and elastic. You can also use a stand mixer with a dough hook attachment.
- Let the dough rise: Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl and cover with a clean towel or plastic wrap. Let it rise in a warm place for about 1 to 1 1/2 hours, or until it has doubled in size.
