Ingredients:
1 lb steak (ribeye, sirloin, or your preferred cut)
2 tablespoons olive oil
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
3 garlic cloves (minced or smashed)
2 sprigs fresh thyme (or substitute with rosemary)
Salt and freshly ground black pepper (to taste)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Steak:
Remove the steak from the fridge and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes. This ensures even cooking.
Pat the steak dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. Season generously on both sides with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
2. Heat the Pan:
Place a heavy skillet (cast iron is ideal) on medium-high heat. Allow it to heat for about 3-5 minutes until very hot.
Add the olive oil and let it heat until it begins to shimmer.
