Conventional products such as bleach can be harmful to health and the environment. Instead, favor natural ingredients like white vinegar or baking soda to restore the shine to your toilet.

Why avoid bleach?
Bleach is undoubtedly a good disinfectant and its properties allow it to kill bacteria. However, it is still toxic to health. It can irritate the eyes, cause skin lesions, and cause breathing problems if inhaled . Additionally, when mixed with other products such as white vinegar or scale removers, bleach releases gases that cause headaches and nausea.

To disinfect and   descale your toilet bowl  , pour 1 cup of white vinegar directly into the bowl and let sit for 30 minutes. Then sprinkle 1 cup of baking soda in the container and let the two products sit for an hour. Then soak the toilet brush with baking soda and scrub the walls. Then flush the toilet.

You can also prepare your own natural product to clean the toilet bowl. For this you will need

  • 500ml white vinegar
  • 500 ml of water
  • Lemon or lavender essential oil
  • spray bottle

Mix 15 drops of lemon or lavender essential oil with white vinegar in a container. Pour the mixture into a spray bottle and add water. Shake the bottle well. Drizzle mixture down sides of bowl. Let sit for 10 minutes and scrub the bowl with a toilet brush.

the toilet seat

Over time and the accumulation of dirt, the toilet seat loses its shine and turns yellow. To clean it and restore its whiteness, use white vinegar and baking soda.

Stage 1 :

In a spray bottle, mix 1 cup of water with 1/2 cup of white vinegar and spray the mixture on the toilet seat. Leave it on for 30 minutes and clean with a microfiber sponge.  White vinegar will allow you to kill the germs and bacteria present in the glasses.

2nd step:

In a bowl, mix 2 cups of baking soda with 1 cup of water to make a thick paste. Spread it over the stained areas of your glasses and let it sit for 20 minutes. Then rub the bezel with a sponge soaked in water, using circular movements.  Bicarbonate crystals allow you to remove embedded stains thanks to their abrasive action.

Do not hesitate to renew the operation if you notice that the stains have not completely disappeared.

Step 3:

Spray the white vinegar solution again on the surface of the bezel and wipe with a clean cloth.

Benefits of white vinegar and baking soda

Due to its acidity, white vinegar is an effective remover of limescale deposits. Therefore, it is ideal for descaling taps. Likewise, its antibacterial and degreasing action allows it to unclog dirt, eliminate bacteria and   thus disinfect toilets.   Use white vinegar to disinfect surfaces you touch with your hand, such as the flush button or door handle. Also remember to leave a little pure white vinegar on the bottom of the toilet brush holder, so that it can be disinfected after each use.

Baking soda is also a go-to item for   home maintenance and cleaning  . It is an effective product   for disinfecting, descaling and whitening toilets, in addition to fighting bad odors.

You can find sparkling clean toilets without spending a lot of money, using natural products that are harmless to your health and the environment.
