Penuche Fudge

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups powdered sugar (confectioners’ sugar)
  • 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Instructions:

1. Cook the Brown Sugar Mixture:

  • In a medium saucepan, combine the brown sugar, butter, and whole milk.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.
  • Once it reaches a boil, reduce the heat to low and simmer for 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently, until the mixture thickens and begins to pull away from the sides of the pan. Be careful not to let it burn.

2. Add the Vanilla and Salt:

  • Once the sugar mixture has thickened, remove it from the heat.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract and salt, mixing well to combine.

3. Incorporate the Powdered Sugar:
