For the Cake:

- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar

Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare the Cake
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 8-inch round cake pans.
- Make the Cake Batter:
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar together using an electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Alternate adding the dry ingredients and milk to the batter, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
- Pour in the heavy cream and mix until smooth.
- Bake the Cake:
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

- Return the custard mixture to the saucepan and cook over medium-low heat, whisking constantly, until the custard thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
