Penuche Fudge
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups brown sugar (packed)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups powdered sugar (confectioners’ sugar)
- 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
Instructions:
1. Cook the Brown Sugar Mixture:
- In a medium saucepan, combine the brown sugar, butter, and whole milk.
- Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.
- Once it reaches a boil, reduce the heat to low and simmer for 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently, until the mixture thickens and begins to pull away from the sides of the pan. Be careful not to let it burn.
2. Add the Vanilla and Salt:
- Once the sugar mixture has thickened, remove it from the heat.
- Stir in the vanilla extract and salt, mixing well to combine.
